Tara Thompson

Tara Thompson is a dedicated and grounded educator currently serving as an Assistant Principal at Crystal River High School. Now in her second year at the school, Tara brings a steady, practical approach to her daily work, drawing on a deep well of experience that spans over three decades in public education.

Before transitioning into leadership, Tara spent 23 years in the classroom teaching mathematics, where she connected with students and helped build strong foundational math skills. Over the past 12 years, she has lent her expertise to school administration, working across both elementary and high school settings. Throughout her administrative career, she has taken on various supportive and leadership roles, including serving as a dean, assistant principal, and principal, always focusing on creating positive, stable learning environments for students and staff alike.

A proud alumna of East Carolina University and North Carolina State University, Tara balances her professional commitments with a rich and fulfilling personal life. Outside of school, her greatest joy comes from spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoys traveling and making memories with her husband.
